There are many ways to finish sandblasted glass, they would include, lacquer, clear enamel, varnish, polymers, paint, WD40, and many others. (Some are not used locally because of EPA restrictions.)
These will be used in base carriers such as, water, solvent, oil and alcohol. All of these have specific uses and advantages.
The two coatings most used by Milestone and DPS are the water base spray on polymers and the alcohol base wipe on polymers. Both sealers are EPA friendly.
The spray on type is by far superior for interior use. The finish has dull satin or "dry appearance". In most cases the finish is not likely detectable after installation, a feature few other coatings can boast.
Our spray on sealer helps resist glass contamination. While no sealer coating is the end all to the necessarily higher maintenance of sandblasted products, it sure does make cleaning easier. This coating can only be applied once and is done at the time of the initial blasting process
The wipe on type is recommended for usage in wet or exterior applications, like inside shower stalls, bathroom windows, mirrors, exterior handrails and windscreens, Green house glass, sloped glazing, also glass that has partially blasted areas and auto glass. It can be reapplied as needed and can be used on clear glass.
Both sealer coatings are installed on the product immediately after the blasting process, this allows us to provide that quality untouched and pristine appearance.
Spray on coatings have a drying time base on temperature and humidity, while the wipe on coatings can be handled and shipped immediately after application.
Milestone generally recommends sealer coating all sandblasted glass.
Milestone does not apply sealer to ground glass or products that have been blasted by others.
We pride ourselves on shipping the highest quality sandblasted glass and architectural products. Our sealer coating has been in use since 1988, with no peeling, flaking, chalking or discoloration noted.

Warranty will be void if improper cleaning is determined to be the cause of seal coating failure. Determination to be at the sole discretion of Milestone.
Other defects or damage not covered under warranty include; scratches and stains caused by normal use, scratches and stains caused by abuse or neglect, air born contamination, chemical exposure, finger prints, normal wear and tear, food stains, abrasion from carpet installation, constant or repeated exposure to water other than regular cleaning, glass installed with defects known prior to installation, use of razor blade, scrapers, nylon scouring pads, steel wool, abrasive powders, etc.
Milestone will either refund the wholesale cost of the sealer coating or re-blast the glass and reapply new sealer coating. This determination will be made by and at the sole discretion of Milestone. (Examples of glass that cannot be re-blasted might include; glass with pattern or logo, some thickness of tempered glass, glass that cannot be cost effectively removed and reinstalled, glass with heavy or coarse sandblasted texture)
Re-blasting would require glass removal, transportation to Milestone shop, and reinstallation by others, and the cost for this would NOT be covered by Milestone limited warranty.
Milestone will not be responsible for any costs, fees or other charges associated with this warranty, which exceed the original invoiced amount of the sealer coating at the time of manufacture for a particular job.
