Tips for Transporting Sandblasted Glass Products
This information is provided as a means to help you maintain the pristine integrity of your newly sandblasted and seal coated glass after it leaves our shop. Other related and helpful information is listed on other pages under the headings of, Tips for Cleaning Sandblasted Glass, Handling Instructions and About Sealer Coatings. Please note that the extra time and effort used to preserve product appearance and integrity will be rewarded in the savings of the cost and time from damages that were avoidable.
- Avoid wet, humid, dirty and oily conditions, try to arrange will call times during periods of dry weather.
- If sandblasted glass becomes unavoidably wet, pat dry with clean cloth or paper towels immediately after transporting and space glass apart to facilitate the further release of captured surface moisture.
- Wet or dry, do not allow sandblasted glass to maintain extended contact with paper packing or spacer buttons. (If glass is to be stored longer than a few hours, separation is advised.)
- Do not use cork buttons to space glass. (Cork contains oils that stain the glass and are NOT removable.)
- Do not use "Lucor-N' or any other spec-pac material on sandblasted products.
- Place sandblasted surfaces away from truck racks. If glass has double sided blasting, place paper or cardboard between the rack and the glass to reduce the chance for damage. Racks should be in top repair to further reduce potential damage.
- Place a clean cloth or paper towel between the point of contact on rack stakes and the sandblasted surface.
- If you are tying the glass to the rack, use clean, nonabrasive ropes.
- Insure setting blocks or pads are clean and dry.
- Avoid transporting glass at extreme angles or in a horizontal position.
- Sandblasted laminated and 1/8" tempered glass is extremely fragile, handle with extra precaution.
- Do NOT attempt to clean sandblasted glass until the cleaning and handling instructions are fully understood.
- Do NOT install any sandblasted glass that is damaged or is blasted incorrectly.
- Call 510-581-7400 or log on to the web at milestonemfg.com to get copies of cleaning and handling instructions.
